In May 2015, the “First International Sustainable Tourism Forum: Communities and Destinations” was successfully held at the House of Culture of Sopo; a tourist destination located only 37 km from Bogotá, Colombia.
The Forum was opened by Mr. Jerónimo R. Valderrama Fonseca, Major of Sopó, and Natalia Naranjo Ramos, co-founder of CaLatam Caonsultancy; who welcomed the national and international expert speakers and more than 150 attendees coming from Bogotá and other municipalities of the central Sabana, Cundinamarca, Boyacá, Santander, the Coffee Region and the Atlantic Coast of the country.
The Forum was supported by allied entities such us the Global Sustainable Tourism Council – GSTC, the Canadian Executive Services Organization (CESO-SACO), the Sustainable Tourism Americas Network (STAN) and Aves Internacionales. The sponsors include local entities such us the Islamorada Restaurant/Bar, the Hotel Casa de Eventos, and the Ecuadorian sponsor, Pacari chocolates.
